State Route 219 (SR-219) is east/west minor arterial (except for the first 0.2 miles that is classified as a principal arterial) that is located along the northern edge of the City of Modesto in Stanislaus County (District 10).  The route extends five miles east of State Route 99 (SR-99) near Salida to the intersection of State Route 108 (SR-108). The SR-219 corridor serves local traffic and is a route for the transportation of goods and services. It is also an important route used by commuters and local traffic in the City of Modesto, and residents in the cities of Riverbank and Oakdale as a means to reach SR-99.

Corridor Specific Issues

  • Recurrent highway and roadway traffic congestion on two lane facility
  • Gaps and barriers within bicycle, pedestrian facilities, and crossings
  • Inadequate transit capital and operations funding needed to grow transit ridership
  • Limited parallel roadway capacity along the corridor
  • Limited Park-and Ride Facilities on the corridor

Corridor Mobility Improvement Account (CMIA) Projects

The CSMP requirement is noted in the Baseline Agreements of all projects receiving CMIA funding. CMIA funds have been allocated for the following improvement project on the SR-219 Corridor:

  • Widen to 4-lanes State Route 99 to Morrow Road
  • Widen to six lanes along SR-219 from Tully Road to Carver Road.
  • Widen to 4-lanes Morrow Road to State Route 108
  • The CMIA project includes a Class II bike facility along the entire corridor.
